Wild (And often, free)

"Ocean Heart" is an ode to this hauntingly beautiful parallel universe that happens to be here on Earth.

Around this time, last month, I along with two of my closest friends (and co-partners at Illustration Much) finally 

took a trip we had been planning for almost a year.

We traveled to Sri Lanka, a beautiful island I had heard so much about but evidently knew nothing about.

Little did I know I'd come back changed, moved and ready for more change. The people, the art, the beauty.

We rode through the busy streets of Colombo -

 

Mapped our way to Hatton on a long train ride -

And then we did for a countless number of Sri Lankans do, atleast 4-5 times in their life; We climbed Adam's Peak!

We then ventured down South to Galle. If you're an artist, Galle is a dream.

Our last stop was the land of blue oceans, sea creatures and "Ocean Heart," Hikkaduwa.

    

We went snorkeling and the experience was life changing. We swam in deep blue oceans with turtles, fish, coral and all sorts of wonderful creatures. "Ocean Heart" is an ode to this hauntingly beautiful parallel universe that happens to be here on Earth. Where all you can hear is the course of your breathing, and time stands still.

As more chapters open and sadly some close, beauty always remains enduring.

Hitched

Just graduated college!

And the little guy up there is one of the results of my four years at The Symbiosis Institute of Design!

He's a part of a huge collection of characters :

"Circus People", an illustrative theme based font

Each alphabet is based on a character from the circus!

And there are numbers too!

And it's a book as well!!

(That I hope to get published someday)

Design love : Fossil Watch Packaging

I've been very watch curious lately,and I noticed Fossil.

Not just for their watches but for the lovely packaging the watches come with.

It's vintage,it's colourful and the illustrations are a combination of imagination and of course,time.

Design Love : Pretty book covers!

Book covers are so lovely these days!

It adds a whole new side to reading.

It makes you want to read more

OR atleast go to the bookstore and stare at something!

I haven't read the Paul McCartney book (yet) but the book covers here are some of my favourite books!

Design Love : The Good Earth 2011 Planner

As my year got a bit busy in February and I hate forgetting things I decided to buy myself a  planner.

This has increased my interest in planners in general.

They can so much more interactive and fun.This can make planning one's year as much fun.

So I visited Good Earth in Mumbai in January and fell for their planner "India Circus."

Designed by Bubble design,it's colourful,simple and unique.

It's perfect for someone who loves bollywood,colour and illustration.

It's main theme is the everyday experiences of comtemporary India or the "Indian Tamasha."

And the illustrations based on the exact same idea.

It emphasizes on what we take for granted in our country and how all this chaos is really beautiful.It's  perfect creative inspiration for any designer.I paid Rs.350 for the planner so it's worth it too!
