Wild (And often, free)

"Ocean Heart" is an ode to this hauntingly beautiful parallel universe that happens to be here on Earth.

Around this time, last month, I along with two of my closest friends (and co-partners at Illustration Much) finally
took a trip we had been planning for almost a year.

We traveled to Sri Lanka, a beautiful island I had heard so much about but evidently knew nothing about.
Little did I know I'd come back changed, moved and ready for more change. The people, the art, the beauty.

We rode through the busy streets of Colombo -

Mapped our way to Hatton on a long train ride -

And then we did for a countless number of Sri Lankans do, atleast 4-5 times in their life; We climbed Adam's Peak!

We then ventured down South to Galle. If you're an artist, Galle is a dream.

Our last stop was the land of blue oceans, sea creatures and "Ocean Heart," Hikkaduwa.

We went snorkeling and the experience was life changing. We swam in deep blue oceans with turtles, fish, coral and all sorts of wonderful creatures. "Ocean Heart" is an ode to this hauntingly beautiful parallel universe that happens to be here on Earth. Where all you can hear is the course of your breathing, and time stands still.

As more chapters open and sadly some close, beauty always remains enduring.
Have a lovely week :)

Water

You can't cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water. "
~ Rabindranath Tagore

Here's to love in all its forms. Inspired by flowers, colour, the moon and the sea.
ALSO - Happy Birthday Mr. Cyril Kiran!
I hope you have a lovely day and a lovely year ahead, and I hope you have everything you wish for.
Thank you for being such a lovely friend :) Always.

What a weekend - Went exploring with my best friend in the whole world, one of favourite favourite things to do :)

We saw and found the most beautiful things :)

Imagination

This month has been so so wonderful!
I had the amazing opportunity to illustrate for the Kyoorius Design Yatra held at Goa last month!

Focusing on the theme "The Divide," focused on imagination, creativity and of course -
Making dreams come true.

I love what I do, and my illustration was meant to potray just that.
How waking up every morning to a job you love is a blessing, and how one's heart can move in different rather difficult directions from time to time.

I left Goa inspired, a little sad (I almost considered moving to Goa), but so happy and grateful.
I'd like to thank Kyoorius and everyone involved!
Cant wait to see what's next!

Secrets, flowers and wood

My tribute to fashion, glamour and all things creative.
Thought it was about time to do something different.
And because I adore seeing my work as a snapshot :

            Have a creative day :)

Return

My interpretation of Lord Krishna

We all worship something or someone. And eventually, maybe,we all return to it.

In my opinion, Krishna's probably one of India's (Hinduism's) most charming Gods.
Who,by the way, came to restore Dharma to the earth in a time of great dharmic imbalance.

So Im almost done with my degree project and college, its all happening very fast. But in a good way,Im settling into doing some regular things - getting a job, working and doing what I love.Of course :)

This year's probably going to be quite different and Im looking forward to it.
And there are the other lovely things in life, the things around you..

Capable

“If we did all the things we are capable of, we would literally astound ourselves.”
                                                                                                                          - Thomas Edison

It's true,we're all capable of swimming in the ocean and flying to the clouds.

I've done lots of travelling this month, from Bombay..

To places much closer to home..

The year is just beginning :)

To my dear blog

To my dear blog (Wander Dust,is that your name?I'm really not sure),
It's 3:30 am and as usual, I can't really sleep. So I decided to check you out.I also thought I'd look at my blogger profile which says that you've been active since August 2006.Wow.
I don't know why I started you.But it happened anyways.I was a 16 year old kid messing around with photoshop and I really liked what I was coming up with.At the time.I don't really approve of my work then now but that isn't really suprising now is it?
When people ask me why I started a blog I'd like to tell them it's because I really want to know what people think of my work. But the truth is, I'm still and will probably always be very shy when it comes to putting my work out there. The reason I started this blog was to record my work and in the process unknowingly, record my life.
When I go back 6 pages or 2 years on this blog and I look at my work I can come up with a whole story about what urged me to think up what I did then. And I guess thats the beauty of it.
Steve Jobs died yesterday. And I came across a quote of his about loving what you do.It was about how you should believe that the work you're doing at the present moment is truly great work. How this belief will only get better as life goes on.It meant alot to me,because I love what I do.
But let's face it.I go through so many phases.I don't know where I'll be next year, and if I do end up studying curation and art history I only hope I have the courage to pull through. And that courage has certainly come from this blog.Alot of the good things that have happened in my professional life have happened because of this blog. The lovely comments. The lovely people leaving those comments. It's all good.
  Thank you :)
So if I do choose Tumblr or Wordpress to start my writing blog don't be mad.Just be glad I finally got the courage to write!

Love,
Taaneya.
