Wild (And often, free)
Mapped our way to Hatton on a long train ride -
And then we did for a countless number of Sri Lankans do, atleast 4-5 times in their life; We climbed Adam's Peak!
We then ventured down South to Galle. If you're an artist, Galle is a dream.
Our last stop was the land of blue oceans, sea creatures and "Ocean Heart," Hikkaduwa.
We went snorkeling and the experience was life changing. We swam in deep blue oceans with turtles, fish, coral and all sorts of wonderful creatures. "Ocean Heart" is an ode to this hauntingly beautiful parallel universe that happens to be here on Earth. Where all you can hear is the course of your breathing, and time stands still.
As more chapters open and sadly some close, beauty always remains enduring.
Have a lovely week :)

Eye Glasses
It's been four months and five days since I have last updated my blog. Four months of drastic changes in my career, ideas and philosophy. Also, four lovely months of inspiration and the willingness to succeed and welcome change, however scary it might be.
And during these past few months I've worked on some very meaningful social projects which are highly relevant to the role of women in Indian society. As an illustrator, you try to add color to a cause and change someones perceptions with a visual. In doing so, I've learnt about the power of art as well as the power of inward movement.
It began with the fearless campaign, a response to the horrible events in Dehli this past year. In an effort to raise the nations consciousness about women's safety and empowerment, the "Fearless Poster Collective" has spread far and wide throughout the streets and hearts of Indians.

Then came along "One Billion Rising", a movement against domestic violence. The founder- Eve Ensler, enouraged women and men to leave their homes, schools and work places on the 14th of February 2013 and dance. This cause was incredibly personal and important, and something I was so lucky to work on.
I am also very proud :) to state that I am a full time (until further notice) freelancer and co-founder of our tiny collective "Illustration Much." I have felt so lucky and blessed, and happy!
We were even in the paper this past week :)

You can't cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water. "

Burst
Last week I wrote a post about imagination and making dreams come true.
This week I've finally realised that dreams and imagination are a result of initiation. Everything has moved in such an amazingly fast and lovely pace that I cant help but wonder where I started and began. I also can't help but think :
I have finally found a "A quote," that's beginning to reveal itself in most areas of my life, courtesy The Beatles :
"The love you take is equal to the love you make"
This has all coincided with the creation of "Illustration Much," an illustration studio of sorts started by four os us - Me and three of my closest friends from college.
Logo courtesy Anant Ahuja We launched Illustration Much at Kitsch Mandi this weekend - It's a popular flea market in my lovely home city of Bangalore. The responses and the love we received was immense! And we're so happy to continue putting out more work in the future. Please share the love :) And don't forget to like our page on Facebook For exclusive prints of my work, feel free to email me on: taaneya1990@gmail.com Love, Taaneya. |
